Clan History:
2E 588
Alekt returns to the Clan at the end of the New Life Festival, and is welcomed back as Nocturnal's Champion by Reno for the first time.
Reno also hears some vague tell, privately, of Alekt's origins coming from the Reach, and hint of the original Clan. No others besides Alekt and Spy are aware of it at the time.

News soon comes to Alekt about vampire troubles to the east, in Skyrim, and Reno is asked by Jorunn to help investigate some troubling matters along with another agent of the Skald King.
Alekt accompanies Reno on this job, and they uncover a plot by a band of Reachmen known as the Icereach Coven and vampires calling themselves the Gray Host to target the Skald King.
Their investigations take them down into Blackreach, to Reno's shock and amazement. Its there that Reno finds out that Alekt, and the original Clan, not only know of Blackreach, but come from it.

Thwarting the Icereach's attempt on Jorunn's life, Alekt and Reno are told of preparations to send agents of the Skald King to warn the Western Holds, as the Icereach and Gray Host will target there as well.
Alekt decides that the Kråke will turn their attention there next; the place where Alekt is from, and where the original Clan will be in danger. The branch Clan begins making extended preparations to move their base of operations to Skyrim.

As the Clan makes preparations, tensions steadily rise internally within the branch Clan between a few of its regular members, especially between Reno and one of the Clan's Talons.
As the tensions and stress rise, eventually Alekt snaps in the heat of an argument between them, and shifts into his Guardian form for the first time, trapping and coming close to killing them to eliminate the perceived threat.
In a moment of regained senses, Alekt realizes what he almost did, nearly breaking one of the Clan's most sacred laws to never harm another Clansmen, and flees into the Evergloam.

The Clan call on Spy for help and make arrangements to go after Alekt into the Evergloam, the realm of Nocturnal, under the guidance of Alekt's half-brother and Oracle from the original Clan.
Its during this time that most of the branch Clan learn of the original Clan's existence, and are confronted with the reality that if they cannot quell their squabbling and learn to stand better united, they'll never be able to bring Alekt back from the Gloam in his current state.
Working to try and settle their differences, as well as navigate through the Gloam itself, the Clan is able to locate Alekt and convince him to return.

As summer begins in Skyrim, the Clan finally arrives in the western Holds to offer aid, formally resigning from their duties as militia to the town of Fell's Run.
In Solitude, they are given a cold and unwelcome reception by High King Svargrim, who views them with hostile suspicion. Nevertheless, the Clan continues to work towards uncovering the plots laid out by the Icereach Coven and Gray Host, their investigations taking them down into Blackreach.
As they come into contact with the Harrowstorms, those with otherworldly afflictions (daedra, lycanthropy, vampirism) seem to be resistent to the effects of the storms, but still suffer strange and unpleasant side-effects.

Not long after arriving in Skyrim, the Clan is betrayed and abandoned by several of the Clan due to a resurgence of old tension and infighting thought resolved in the Evergloam retrieval mission.
In order to protect the more senstive secrets of the Clan and its remaining members, the deserters were tracked down and assassinated.

The Clan continues on its mission to root out and stop the Gray Host, an endeavor that eventually leads to uncovering High King Svargrim's involvement with the Gray Host and his betrayal, as well as uncovering Greymoor Keep in Blackreach beneath the city.
As the Gray Host prepares a massive Harrowstorm to strike the city of Solitude, the Clan attacks the castle, confronting the Ashen Lord, leader of the Gray Host--Rada Al Saran--and Svargrim.
Svargrim is defeated and the Harrowstorm stopped, but Reno's left eye is blinded in the fight, and Rada Al Saran escapes into the unknown.
In the wake of Svargrim's betrayal and death, his daughter Svana is named the new Jarl of Solitude, and the beginnings of a ceasefire and alliance is formed between Svana and Jorunn; between the East and West.

In the week following the attack on Greymoor Keep, Alekt--beset by restlessness surrounding the unknown whereabouts of Rada Al Saran and subsequent still-active threat--returns to the Keep in Blackreach along with a few members of the original Clan, making greater efforts to further destroy the Keep and reduce it to rubble so it cannot be re-occupied and used again to stage more attacks, transforming into his daedric form to help achieve this.
At the same time, Reno and others of the branch Clan move above ground to stop smaller Harrowstorms as they continue to spring up.
Affected to some degree by his curse, the Harrowstorms, and Alekt's own state of restlessness, Reno loses control of his senses and goes feral, fleeing into the wilds, forcing Alekt and the rest of the Clan to track him down and capture him.
Though they do manage to capture him successfully, once again Reno's curse begins to catch up with him. Despite Cinead's removal, Hircine's influence still affects him, pieces of his humanity continuing to fall away a little bit at a time.

Though they do manage to capture him successfully, once again Reno's curse begins to catch up with him. Despite Cinead's removal, Hircine's influence still affects him, pieces of his humanity continuing to fall away a little bit at a time.
Reno declares that the only way he can keep from losing himself to the curse would be to remove part of it, the part that he took on from Hircine in his deal to hunt down Dar'ri, but that the effort and power required for removing the curse would more than likely kill him.
Reno and Alekt come up with a plan to take Reno to Southern Elsweyr, to the large quarry of unearthed Aeonstones along the coast, to amplify Reno's magic enough that he can turn back the time on his curse and lift it so as not to lose his humanity entirely.
It works, if only barely, though only enough to remove the fragment of his curse associated with hunting Dar'ri and not the rest of his curse he was born with in this reincarnation.

Alekt is contacted by letter by an unknown claiming to have information on Rada Al Saran, telling him to meet in Morthol. Alekt goes to meet the contact, but finds his claims seem to fall more on the side of lies than truth. The contact--Arata--senses that Alekt has picked up on his deception, and makes an attempt to flee, before being stopped by another member of the Clan, who breaks his leg in the chase.
Alekt takes Arata into custody, asking him for information. When Arata refuses to give it, he turns his attention to finding Arata's partner--Hisami--who Arata had previously claimed originally obtained the information about Rada Al Saran.
Finding Hisami, Alekt is able to get more information out of him more easily, and that the talk of Rada Al Saran was a lie to lure him out. In reality, Arata and Hisami tried to lure Alekt to them because of a deal they made with Hircine to hunt Alekt down, but they'd begun to change their minds as they got closer to Alekt. Alekt warns both Arata and Hisami to stay away from his Clan, and that he would kill both of them if they came near his Clan and threatened them again.
Arata and Hisami disappeared not long after, whereabouts becoming unknown, but the encounter leaves Reno concerned by Alekt's uncharacteristic threats.

Reno crosses paths with one of House Ravenwatch, Gwendis, who talks about following leads regarding the Gray Host, which should take them to Bangkorai. Reno takes the information to Alekt, knowing his interest in tracking down Rada Al Saran. The information leads them to Grayhome, an old, abandoned castle once belonging to the Gray Host.
While it doesn't bring them closer to Rada Al Saran, Alekt is able to learn information about some of the Gray Host's intentions with uncovering an artifact hidden beneath the Reach, giving him some idea of why they've moved there beyond simply having ties to the Icereach.
Alekt begins investigating into different Dwemer ruins in Blackreach beneath Western Skyrim with the rest of the Clan, though they don't find anything that Alekt thinks could be the "relic" they are looking for.
Alekt confirms that the relic is not any of Nocturnal's Artifacts, and he and Reno speculate what it may be and if it may be related to other Princes. Mention of a Dark Heart leads Reno to guess that the relic may have ties to Namira, expressing a personal distaste for the Prince, due to Namira trying to tempt someone close to him to falling under her influence.

Spy and a werewolf deserter from the Icereach Coven and Gray Host--Solvi--head to the Reach to investigate into the Gray Host's interest in those lands, as well as the happenings between the Despot of Markarth who have made "peace" with the Gray Host, and the Witch Rebels who have not.
Heading down into Blackreach, Spy and Solvi discover Dwemer ruins beneath the Reach as well as strange, shadowy, unnatural phenomenon scattered around the caves. Though they are unable to get inside the ruins or see any Gray Host hanging around, the werewolf is able to confirm the lingering scent of the Gray Host having been there recently, suspecting that the relic they are seeking may be there.
Spy sends a report back to Alekt, confirming his suspicions, and they begin to make preparations to leave for the Reach properly.

Crossing the border into the Reach, the first place the Clan comes upon is Karthwasten, a town besieged by a Harrowstorm. Much of the town--the Crow Eye Clan--survived the storm thanks to wards protecting the town, but some of their people were still turned into Harrowfiends and the protective wards disrupted.
The Clan attempts to help restore the wards of the town--shrines of Nocturnal, Hircine, Namira, and Molag Bal--but something goes wrong in the last step. Some of the townsfolk believe it goes wrong because of recruiting outsiders to help, though Alekt and Reno both quietly suspect and hope against the possibility that the ritual went wrong because of tense relations to Hircine.
In the end, the cause is corrupted Netherroot used in the ritual, which they rid the nearby mine of Netherroot as well as Gray Host occupation, and manage to restore the wards at last.

Continuing on their way, the Clan comes to Hroldan Ring, a neutral meeting ground for different Reach clans, where they meet many other Reachmen and some travelers gathering for a winter barter market. Alekt manages to make contact and speak briefly with the witch of the Stonebreaker Clan--Uela the Blood-Feather, and agrees to meet with them at a later date to discuss a potential alliance if it benefits both their clans.
Arriving in Markarth, the Clan makes arrangements with one of Ard Caddach's Stonehands to gain an audience with the Ard if they can find information that interests him, returning with information about the Gray Host and the Witch Rebels. The Ard and his Keep-Witch Lady Belain task the Clan with finding the leader of the Witch Rebels, Arana, though the Clan is hesitant to trust Lady Belain.
After finding letters of correspondence between the Gray Host and Belain, revealing her to be a vampire, Alekt and the Clan cross paths with Arana and learn that Belain will be meeting with the leaders of the Gray Host in a Nordic barrow not far away.
Heading to the barrow, the Clan come across Rada Al Saran, and confront him. In a moment of heightened agitation at finding Rada Al Saran at last, Alekt transforms into his shadow-bird form and attacks Rada Al Saran, but fails to take him down as planned, the Gray Host leader escaping.
With growing concern at Alekt's slip of control and uncharacteristic impulsiveness, Reno decides that they'll wait until later to return to Ard Caddach, opening a portal to one of his homes and bidding Alekt and the others follow, the rest of the Clan agreeing that would be for the best.

Alekt is approached by Arata while alone at Hrolden Ring, who tries to extend an olive branch and tells Alekt that he has been given directives from his Prince, Hircine, to aid the Clan in their fight against the Gray Host, and that he will need Hircine's blessing in order to hunt down Rada Al Saran.
When Alekt challenges why Hircine would be so generous after their bad history, Arata tells him that Hircine was not happy that his Werewolves were being plucked out of the Hunting Grounds by the Harrowstorms, and had decided the Gray Host were thieves more worthy of his ire at that moment, and so share a mutual interest.
Alekt firmly declines, stating that he will finish his hunt with or without Hircine's blessing, distrusting the offer, and leaving Arata to leave frustrated and once again under threat.

Returning later to the Ard, the Clan reports its findings about Lady Belain working with the Gray Host, though the Ard decides to keep her around for the time being, and agrees to meet with Count Verandis Ravenwatch. The Clan seeks after the Arkthzand Keystone they overheard Rada Al Saran and Lady Belain discuss earlier at the barrow.
After finding a map for the alleged location of the Keystone, Bthar-Zel, the Clan set out for Rebel's Retreat to meet with Arana and Verandis. Arana first has the Clan gather ritual ingredients to see if the Spirits will bless their alliance against the Gray Host, and are sent a sign by Hircine despite Alekt and Reno's reservations, leading them to the entrance of Bthar-Zel at Deep Folk Crossing in the Druadach Mountains.
Upon opening the door into the ruins, Arana and Alekt are both beset by a feeling of dark and foreboding magic coming from the other side. Inside the ruins, they find a treasure trove of mined silver that the Witch-Rebels can use to forge weapons for fighting the Gray Hosts' vampires and werewolves later.
Despite their best efforts, Lady Belain and Rada Al Saran beat them to the Keystone, and disappear to leave the Clan to fight off a giant Dwemer automaton, losing their chance to take down Rada and Belain. They part ways with Arana as she heads to the surface to gather people who can help collect the silver hoard, and rendezvous with Verandis further out into Blackreach. Verandis points out a Dwemer ruin off in the distance where Rada and Belain fled to, giving the Clan their next place to investigate.
As they came to the ruin, they found it overrun with strange black Void energies and humanoid Shades, which Alekt recognizes as the same dark energy he felt before, as well as from Spy's earlier reports. Reno and others in the Clan likewise feel the energies, though the others of the Clan without Daedric afflictions are more immediately beset by negative symptoms.
Upon arrival, the doors to the Dwemer ruins are blocked, though they manage to find their way inside through the use of Void Portals manifested around the ruins as well as documents talking about a dark relic hidden within that Lady Belain is trying to awaken.
Inside the ruins, they find a Shade trapped within a Dwemer device, managing to set it free and briefly speak to it, which turns out to be one of the Gray Host's Pentarchs who was transformed by the Void energies. The Pentarch Shade informs them that Lady Belain is trying to awaken an ancient relic known as the Dark Heart and "drink its shadows", before telling them she is at the Arkthzand's Orrery that very moment.
The Clan moves on ahead to find Rada and Belain discussing their plans to activate the Orrery after the Dark Heart is awakened, before they vanish and escape once more. The Clan decide it best to head back to the surface for the time being and distance themselves from the Void energies and their negative effects. They report their findings to Arana, before heading to the tavern in Markarth for the night.

Continuing the following day, the Clan gathers with Arana, planning to visit the Ghostsong Clan to consult them about legends concerning the Dark Heart. Heading to Lost Valley Redoubt, its not long before they find the Reach grounds overrun with Gray Host vampires and werewolves, rushing to the top of the redoubt, where Arana opens a secret path into old caves where the Ghostsong are performing a blood ritual, sacrificing their tribe to Namira.
They manage to stop the Ghostsong's ritual, but not before the death of many of its members and the first vague stirrings of the Dark Heart are felt, awakened by the souls offered to feed it.
In order to learn more about the Dark Heart and Lady Belain's connection to it, the Clan meets House Ravenwatch in Blackreach to investigate Nighthollow Keep, an old, ruined castle belonging to the defunct Nighthollow clan of vampires. After uncovering her ties to the Dark Heart, the Clan and House Ravenwatch return to the Library of Arkthzand, deducing that they plan to attack Markarth and slay everyone within the city to feed the Dark Heart with souls of the dead and awaken it.
They first head to the city to warn the Ard and the people, before going after Lady Belain, running into her and Rada Al Saran at the Orrery. Rada Al Saran hits Verandis Ravenwatch with magic, Verandis mentioning that he feels connected to the Dark Heart somehow, but urging they stop Lady Belain from fully awakening it. They go after Lady Belain, returning the Dark Heart to a semi-dormant state for the time being. Returning to the city, the Clan brings news of Lady Belain's death to the Ard, though Rada Al Saran continues to evade them, having disappeared once more.
With one of the two head vampires of the Gray Host dealt with, and the other's whereabouts unknown, the Clan is forced to wait for news about where Rada Al Saran plans to strike next.

As the Clan waits for news concerning Rada Al Saran, Alekt reaches out to a sister faction under Nocturnal's banner, Shadow's Favored, to request a favor from its leaders Vaylen and Lym. Vaylen had mentioned to Alekt in the near past that their guild had come into possession of the Bow of Shadows, one of Nocturnal's artifacts.
Recognizing the danger posed by Rada Al Saran even with his own Daedric Champion status and wanting every edge available, Alekt makes a request to borrow the Bow for the fight to come. Though somewhat reluctant, Lym agrees to give the Bow to him on the promise it be returned and unbroken afterwards.
Armed and ready, Alekt returns to the rest of the Clan to prepare for their last hunt against the Gray Host.

As the Clan awaits news about Rada Al Saran, Alekt and others attend a Trade Moot among other Reach Clans at Hrolden Ring, introducing themselves as the Crow-tongue Clan. Alekt arranges with the leaders of Clan Stonebreaker--Dannach Thousand-Scars and Uela the Blood-Feather--to meet at Killed-Kyne, a Nord fort taken by the Stonebreaker Clan for the Reach, to discuss an alliance of Clans.
They agree to meet within a week's time.

Receiving news regarding Rada Al Saran's whereabouts, the Clan meets again with House Ravenwatch. As they return to the Orrery, they find clues left by Rada meant for Verandis to follow, but Alekt and the Clan go to investigate in his place instead.
After following different clues related to the Dark Heart and Rada's final plans, they return to Verandis to report their findings, with Rada planning to make a separate plane of reality for the Grey Host to escape the hold of Molag Bal once and for all. Opening the path to the alternate plane and the Dark Storm that will feed the Dark Heart and the Grey Host, Verandis and the Clan move to confront Rada Al Saran one last time.
Alekt bids the rest of the Clan focus on lesser Grey Host enemies, while Alekt himself takes on Rada Al Saran, transforming into his Daedric Champion form to fight the vampire lord. Through a long and arduous battle, and with the help of Verandis as well as the Bow of Shadows, Alekt and the Clan are able to strike the final blow against Rada Al Saran.
At the end of the fight, injured and exhuasted, Alekt collapses and loses consciousness. After leaving the plane of the Dark Storm, Reno creates a portal to the Clan's Sanctuary where Alekt can recover and see their healer.

Days pass and Alekt's condition does not improve with time, with the Clan's healer Ster reporting that one of the larger wounds inflicted by Rada Al Saran resists healing, due to Void energies clinging to his flesh, that she cannot remove. Its discussed how to remove the Void energies so Alekt's wounds can properly heal and so that he survives, with the Clan healer speculating that the energies need some form of living host to be removed and contained.
After some discussion, its speculated that an uncontaminated voriplasm should serve as an adequate host, but that they will have to travel far away--to Elsweyr or Black Marsh--to get one not already infected with Void energies. Reno volunteers to fetch one, saying his twin nephews should have a clean voriplasm he can borrow for the occasion.
Reno heads to his nephews' house, meeting with the oldest twin, Deak, who is more than happy to give the voriplasm to save Alekt's life. Lavi however is outraged to see Reno there, after a past fight they had where Reno had injured him, and repays the favor by beating the shit out of Reno, telling him to leave and not come back.
